"There is no such thing as a "crazy" patient. The current design of medicine does not allow doctors to fully engage with their patients long enough to understand their story."
– Cheng Ruan, MD Chief Medical Officer of Texas Center for Lifestyle Medicine
Our Approach to Primary Care
We believe in collaboration. Whether it's collaborating between our practitioners here or collaborating with professionals outside of our facility, the only way we can improve health is to have communication.
Unique Approach to Diagnosing Chronic Disease
Here are some features of our unique approach toward a host of chronic disease such as hypertension, diabetes, fibromyalgia, thyroid diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, obesity, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, dementia, and more.
While nutrition is key, it is typically hard to analyze and understand how the body absorbs and uses food. While some can be detected on blood work, a great deal of micronutrient use by the body can be blocked by the nervous system. We use a systematic approach to uncover what the nutrient interaction can be between food and our bodies.
Our body's immune system is heavily regulated minute to minute by a combination of internal and external cues. There is a great deal of complexity that comes from analyzing our own immune response. We utilize the most advanced techniques validated by peer review research to uncover all aspects of our immune function.
The biofilm of gut bacteria contains the largest system of nerves that govern most of our bodily functions. Understanding our gut means we have to understand the functions of our microbiome (gut bacteria). While most think there are "good" or "bad" gut bacteria in our microbiome, in reality its how they interact with our body. Analyzing this system may be a key component to understand the unique functions of our body.
No one "needs" to take supplements. However, supplementation can potentially take us to where we want to go faster. Understand what supplements to take can be confusing especially in our current state of information overload. Furthermore, more is not better. Targeted supplementation for targeted goals over a specific time is how we approach dietary supplementation and medical foods.
Environmental toxins such as mercury, air pollution, pesticides, petroleum byproducts, plastics, and soil contaminants can wreak havoc on our ability to fight chronic illnesses. In fact many of these toxins deposit in our bodies to trigger chronic disease states which commonly has no cure. For example, fluorides can have a huge impact on the thyroid while mercury can worsen diabetes, perpetuate obesity, and trigger other autoimmune diseases. We utilize tools to detect heavy metal toxicity to help determine a treatment plan.
We utilize ANS Test to assess the balance between fight or flight response (sympathetic) vs rest and digest (parasympathetic). Most chronic disease have an underlying autonomic disturbance. The ability of of blood vessels and our receptors to adapt to the changing environement of our body is crucial to maintain.
The brain is the key to understanding how our entire body is conducted. Memory, focus, mood, and energy all have a wide variety of root causes. Brain mapping is a painless 24 minute procedure that can reveal the signature of performance metrics of your brain. This allows us to see how external and internal variables affect your brain interaction with hormones, immune system, performance, and energy. While MRI and CT scans can show the anatomy of the brain, the brain mapping shows us the function.
Our focus is on maximizing health and minimizing medications. While we do prescribe medications, we concurrently search for the root cause to help you minimize or get off the medicine under our supervision.
We have dedicated monitoring with education and food plans through our health coach group visits.
Health coaches ensure communication and compliance through our programs.
While many require prescription medications, we always attempt to uncover root causes.
We see our patients as partners. It takes the whole team to maximize health benefits.
We provide Mind-Body Medicine therapies to encompass the holistic approach to healing.
We also provide IV Infusion therapies.
