Oral Health: Uncovering the Surprising Link Between Dental Issues, Infections, and Brain Health

Did you know that your dental health is intricately linked to your overall well-being? While most of us understand the importance of brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups, there's a whole realm of dental health that often goes unnoticed. Hidden infections, toxins, and poor oral hygiene practices can lead to chronic health issues that affect not only your mouth but your entire body. This is where the power of holistic and biological dentistry comes into play.

Understanding Holistic and Biological Dentistry:

Holistic and biological dentistry approaches oral health from a comprehensive perspective, considering the interconnections between the teeth, gums, airway, and the rest of the body. These approaches recognize that the health of our mouth affects the health of our entire system. They emphasize treating the root causes of dental issues rather than just addressing the symptoms.

The Role of Dental Infections and Toxins:

Gum infections and oral microbiome...

Kitchen Behavior Training Group Session Recap- Don't Miss the Next one!

Yesterday, in our Kitchen Behavior Training session, we had such a great conversation around brain health and realistic lifestyle tools proven to impact brain and mental health. Lifestyle Chef, Franklin discussed useful cooking and meal planning tips to help us increase foods and (especially healthy fats) that love us back! He also shared tips used to reduce inflammatory fats that may be hidden in common foods we consume.

Ruben Lespron, Registered Dietitian, opened the floor for the group to share their idea of balance when it comes to healthy foods versus foods that may be deemed as “bad,” such as sugar. With our mind-body medicine practitioner, Geny Moreno, we dove deep into unpacking our relationship with food and belief systems we have constructed in our minds that impact our intake of quality foods!

We also discussed the powerful impacts of having positive community involvement and meaningful relationship connections. Geny discussed how quality friendships and...

Supporting our Fibromyalgia Community & Improving Patient Outcomes

At TCLM, we understand how difficult it can be to battle the symptoms of complex, chronic conditions. Often, patients state that they have felt lost in the system, unheard, or passed around to various specialists with no real answers. Many who feel this way are those suffering from symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Unfortunately, those with this condition are often left to their own devices when managing these symptoms and are generally misunderstood or untreated by the medical community.. That is why we have partnered with specialists who have unique insights into the pathophysiology of fibromyalgia development and ways to begin treating the root cause(s) of fibromyalgia.

Professionals on our team have met with various knowledgeable health professionals who are dedicated to unpacking the intricacies behind the development of complex conditions, and those who struggle with fibromyalgia. Such specialists within our ecosystem consist of chiropractors, sleep...

Dysautonomia and POTS Program at TCLM! Hope for Healing

When walking through chronic illness or long lasting symptoms, the journey can begin to feel bleak and hopeless. When all hopes for healing disintegrate and questions are left unanswered, one can begin to define themselves by their disease rather than the beautifully complex human they are, that may be in a current state of imbalance. At TCLM we shift the focus from disease by providing compassionate care, understanding, and tools to guide patients along their healing process. We are determined to get to the root causes of symptoms, rather than simply masking or medicating them. We acknowledge that our members are a human first, and are experiencing more than just physical symptoms, but various emotional and spiritual implications that are either contributing to, or a result of lasting symptoms.

Dysautonomia is a medical condition that affects the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for regulating vital functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and...

How Brain Mapping Can Improve Your Mental Health

Most of us know that our mental health is drastically impacted by physiological as well as psychological triggers. While we may do our best to manage stress, develop resiliency, and incorporate spiritual and mental healing practices, there may be other organic factors at play, contributing to our mental and emotional state. The sad truth is, people may spend months or years attempting to get to the root of these issues and often have no clue where to begin in their search. They may not even know what options and diagnostic tools are available.

Brainview uses a combination of EEG, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), and quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) to create a detailed map of brain activity. This allows us to pinpoint specific areas in the brain that may be causing cognitive issues and tailor treatment plans accordingly. Not only have we been able to detect sleep related issues, but inflammation from traumatic brain injuries, PTSD, sinus issues, and even...

How Oral Health Impacts our Overall Health

What is the difference between biological and holistic dentistry versus conventional dentistry? This is an important question that many of our patients ask when referred to a dental/upper airway specialist. More research has shown that there is indeed a drastic connection between our oral health, mouth structure, jaw and skull structure, and the development of chronic illnesses.

Periodontal disease has been connected to heart disease, cardiovascular issues, metabolic issues, increased, inflammatory responses, poor immune function, hormone imbalances, and blocked lymphatic drainage, pathways. There have been even research studies, showing a connection between infected teeth and development of inflammatory diseases. We do not wish to add a sense of fear to our patients, but we do always want to ensure that we are providing our patients with education related to disease, prevention and treatment options.

Therefore, our providers may ask you questions related to your oral history and...
